We have been working to get the old engines to start and to get them ready to ship. Luckily they started pretty easily and now have been secured to shipping pallets and being hand delivered right now to the customer in Florida.
The final coat of paint actually requires two coats with sanding between the coats. Here you can see Paul has finished sanding the first of the two coats and is using a tack cloth to prep the sides and remove dust before the second coat.
Here Paul is applying the second of the two final coats using the roll and tip technique.
As you can see the final coat looks amazing. Once the paint dries completely we may have to wet sand and buff any dust or imperfections but you can see that smooth mirror finish in the pictures above.
We have started applying stripper to the transom and now have four coats applied. It should only take a few more coats until we are down to bare wood.

So now that the final coat on the starboard side is finished we decided to wet sand and buff, due to painting outside, to remove any dust or imperfections. As you can see its a perfect mirror finish now.
We also got the final coat on the port side. We will still need to wet sand and buff this side as well.
We have about 90 percent of the varnish removed from the transom and all of the 5200 removed from the seams. Now all that is left to do is sand over the entire transom and then oil the wood if that is what you would like to do.

We have been busy this week sorting through wires and getting the bilge pumps wired into the panel in the helm.

The new exhaust has been installed on the starboard engine and is now out of the way giving room on the side of the engine for servicing.

This is the mess of old wiring harnesses we removed that were from the previous engines.
These are the two options we have for sending units. We recommend the WEMA Sender, seen in the left picture, for the simple fact that there are less moving parts. But the old sending units were mechanical, like the one seen in the picture to the right, so if you decided that you would like to go with that style we can do that as well.
